About the Program
The GWL Community Project is a new extension of the Gypsy Wood Leathers brand. This program employs local members of the community to hand sew the GWL products. Since the sewing can be done anywhere, the program is flexible and accessible to all. Our makers come from all backgrounds from stay-at-home moms to retirees, and had no previous leather working experience.

Our Mission
Our mission with this program is to offer an accessible source of income for members of our local community, and to spread the love of working with leather.
Creating leather products by hand is a dying artform that we look to revive through the GWL Community Project. We plan to expand the GWL brand nationally with our manufacturing hub based in Littleton, NC.

Products
Our sewers are currently creating 10 different products, from wallets to shoulder bags from a variety of bison and cowhides.
Stay tuned for new designs and styles coming soon!

How It Works
We create kits for each item, including the piece parts, thread, and hardware.
After attending a training session to learn how to construct each pattern, our sewers then bring kits home to sew at their own pace.
At this time, we are not accepting applications for more sewers.
